Whittingham said Bryson Barnes is in the hospital right now “and we’re really concerned about him.” His numbers pale in comparison to his health right now.
Like, “pray for him” type bad.

Yikes. I hope he’s going to be OK.
Feels like this Utah team is more snakebit than any other in modern memory.
That was one of the most nasty deliberate targeting acts I’ve seen in a long time. Totally uncalled for.
Hoping for a fast and full recovery for Bryson.
I (thankfully) wasn’t able to watch the game last night, but I did see a clip of the hit that took Barnes out. Spectacularly dirty hit.
Was the targeting penalty called?
Yes
The kid who did the cheap shot ought to get a multi game suspension from the Conference that one. It was an exceptionally brutal hit.
Hard saying not knowing, but maybe a liver lac or pancreas? They dont admit 20 yo’s for broken ribs.
That shot was right at his sternum. It was the kind that could kill if he hadn’t been wearing a flak jacket.
Maybe if it punctured a lung.
I’m seeing rumors, because I don’t know if the posters have any credibility, of it being broken ribs and a punctured lung. Regardless, it’s obviously pretty serious.
Spokesperson said he did travel home last night
Barnes, Logan Fano, Spencer Fano, Charlie Vincent
And roughing the passer. I may have read it wrong, but afterwards the perp seemed to be suppressing a smile.
You can see the hit here. What this clip doesn’t show is the 10-yard unblocked runup the OSU player had that enabled him to hit Bryson at full speed:
Looks like this player is the one who did it, judging by the number 2 on his jersey. There’s another number 2, but he’s a wide receiver, and much smaller than this guy:
Calvin Hart Jr.'s X (Twitter) feed is inactive. A good thing for him right now, I imagine.
As I think about the injuries so far this year and as much as I enjoy being a spectator, I can’t help but think I’d rather see these guys lead healthy and productive lives years down the road. It’s not worth it to me as a fan if one of these guys can’t pick up their kid in 10 years because they sacrificed their body for my entertainment.
My .02
I was at the game- even the OSU fans around us were all disgusted and embarrassed. Yeah it was a terrible hit.
This guy’s behavior was worse than Hart’s. I still think it would not hurt for Oregon State to send a message by suspending Hart beyond the single game suspension he has for targeting. However, he is a starting middle linebacker, so I doubt they’ll do anything. I would respect them if they would at least say something.
I think for any personal foul that causes missed time by the player, the offender should sit until the other player can play again. Ridiculous, amd sometimes ‘accidental’, but someone’s going to die eventually. Hamlin wasn’t a foul, so there is room for just awful injuries too.
