I have seen projections of Alamo, Vegas and Holiday. With opponents ranging from Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri.
I would prefer Vegas for proximity. Missouri and LSU will probably both finish 8-4 in SEC.
i would love 9-3 USC in Vegas Bowl, but that is unlikely. Iowa just throttled Nebraska and will finish 8-4. Nebraska at 7-5 doesn’t excite me. Washington will also likely finish at 7-5. Illinois could finish at 8-4 with a win over Northwestern. If they lose, both will finish 7-5.
A couple of years later and I’m still having to wrestle my brain and remembering that Vegas bowl is no longer the piece of craft that it used to be. With a really decent high quality modern stadium to play in, as opposed to Sam Boyd way out there in the middle of nowhere, it’s actually pretty cool to have it there in the heart of the strip. It’s a lot more of a desirable location to go especially for us. The prestige of the bowl is what’s lacking at this point.
2 of my team are in Omaha and big Husker fans. They said if we play them in a bowl, they are sorry that we got shafted against such a poor team. They lost their starting qb to a leg injury, leading to the season ending slide.
I have no delusional thoughts that Utah gets into the CFP, but explain to me how Miami, who has lost to 2 unranked teams and struggled to beat a 5-7 FSU team ( that lost to Stanford) is ranked higher ?
The only answer that I can give is that they’re Miami, and on the East Coast. They get loads of press, and are expected to be good because they’re Miami. You know, the person who’s famous because they’re famous type thing.
While I am usually happy to see ND eat it..they have a right to scream bloody murder over being dropped out for a 3 loss Alabama who got spanked by Georgia.
Oregon is probably happy to have a scrimmage against James Madison.
This current setup is…absurd and amusing and a perfect reflection of the state of college sports.
