Beat the Cowboys (in Stillwater, not Laramie)

I wondered the same thing.

I don’t understand fan angst about who is going to play. Does it change the rest of their life and game prep?

Not really. Speaking only for myself, I just find it frustrating. I think just about any real fan feels that way at some level. I’m really glad that Isaac Wilson is turning out to be so effective.

First conference game on the road against another contender…I had some angst, but less than I would have if Wilson didn’t play extensively in the first three games and showed progression.

One of the biggest takeaways yesterday is we have 2 QBs who can lead us to wins.

Adios, angst!

I am a bit past angst at this point whether Wilson played well or not. It was a fun football game to watch, and I was very entertained.

The broadcast had a shot of Bernard squatting on the side lines after a run late in the 4th, and it looked like he was going to puke. Two plays later he is out there again. All through the game, he would rip some gains, then have to go out for rest. It is not so much he isn’t built for more than 20 carries, it seemed it was just exhausting to run that much in that heat. Kudos to the coaching staff for keeping a RB rotation going. Also, except for a couple of times they were outnumbered, the RBs did a nice job blocking and picking up blitzes. BTW, I hope Charlie Vincent is OK.

I know that the Utes were shutting down the OSU run game, but there was a point in the second quarter (I think) where OSU ripped off a first down quickly by running and then were in a 2nd and short situation, and threw the ball and had to punt. If I was an OSU fan, I might be a little peeved that they stopped trying to run. The Utes did a good job tiring their defense, but OSU just gave up trying to run. I think if they had stuck with it, the Utes might have also tired.

I think the instant world we live in has made fans feel like they’re owed something.

It’s not just sports. People expect to know everything that goes on and why immediately.

One look at Ring’s Neighbors app or Nextdoor is a prime example

Bernard really showed leadership for the young RBs. He had 25 carries, Mitchell had 8/9, Stanley had 5/7, Vincent 4/10.

I thought Micah’s 61 yard run broke the back of the Pokes defense. At that point they didn’t want to be out on the field… even though it was home field.

Auf wiedersehen, angst! (Just to keep it all German.)

One last thought: We left some points out on the field, especially in the first half, but maybe the stat that revealed the difference was 4 out of 5 on 4th down.

The Utes and the Cowboys were about the same on 3rd downs, but the 4th down conversions kept drives going, kept their D on the field.

I quite literally could not care any less who starts a game. I’m very much of the ‘next man up’ mentality. The over the top angst among some Ute fans is just weird to me. Go Utes!

And when initial information gets updated as people learn more then they scream they’ve been lied to. It’s nuts.

In other words, “how science works”.

I wonder how many millions of dollars Ollie Gordon lost deciding to come back to Ok St this year.

If they are not giving you the ball, there isn’t much you can do.

Well, I know I owe you lunch, and I admit that.
