I know there are key injuries, and I know Baylor came out inspired to atone for last week, but good grief, Texas St. put up 42 points on this team. Texas St. Ridiculous.
It would be interesting to know exactly what the coaches feel his limitations are. His passes have looked really good thus far (with a small sample number). He has been accurate, has a nice throwing motion, and passes with nice velocity.
My guess is that he is not processing the check downs as well as Barnes. A lot of the great running QBs tend to look for one receiver and then take off running. Not sure if this is still a problem for Nate.
Nate obviously has the highest ceiling and it is not close.
It seems pretty clear that more of what we have seen so far is not going to get it done today.
I think you’ve got a point there. On one play, he clearly stared down the receiver long enough to let the defender step in and knock the pass down. I haven’t been watching closely enough to know if he’s done that other times.
He also put the ball on the ground again. That’s three times in two games. So I wouldn’t blame the coaches for being nervous about giving him the offense right now.
We have been spoiled with Cam. I think he is probably either the best or second best QB in school history. Alex was probably better but recency bias is real and Cam is fantastic.
It’s hard to judge on only one pass and then get pulled out. he has no opportunity to learn from that and make any corrections. Not impressed with Ludwig today either, so far.
