A bit harsh on my Kings.
I might change my rooting interest to the Utah Ice Jazz. Utah Blizzard. Utah Yeti.
Well they do suck so there is that. I hope that band of thugs enjoys golfing now while the Oilers are still playing hockey.
Not paying a lot of attention, are we?
This bizarre dissection of the franchise creates some confusion. Do we claim some link back to the WHA origins, or not?
No.
The Utah team is an entirely new franchise that merely possesses the hockey operations assets of the now suspended Arizona Coyotes
We went back to the name Bees in Baseball as a historical homage to the Ogden Bees. Why not name the team the Golden Eagles to honor our hockey history?
And Salt Lake Golden Eagles at that. Not a fan of using State names for pro franchises.
Practice facility will be built at vacant land at South Town mall
TOugh toenails. Buy your own franchise and oyu can name it what you want. Ryan is very clearly orienting the franchise toward the WHOLE STATE, on purpose.
Tough toenails? I didn’t know Frank Burns was on this board.
Nurts to you.
It’s nice to be nice… to the nice.
Never have so many suffered so much so so few could be so happy.
“You tell ‘em Ferret Face.”
Finding myself watching lots of playoff hockey the last few weeks. Last night watched a thriller played in Edmonton. Oilers had a 2-0 lead over Vancouver after the second period. Canucks scored early in the third then pulled the goalie and tied the game with a couple minutes left and they showed the watch party from Vancouver and fans were going crazy.
Seemed destined for overtime, but Edmonton scored with a half minute left and the home fans exploded.
Growing up, after the Utah Stars folded, the Golden Eagles were the only professional team in town in the winter and my friends and I made regular trips to the Salt Palace to cheer them on. New team should be a lot of fun in the coming years.
The Golden Eagles were a fun team to watch in the old Salt Palace. The Grizzlies played at the Delta Center before they moved to Maverik Center.
It’s going to take a hefty remodel to make the DC more hockey friendly. During the Grizzlies stay it was pointed out there were a number of sight obstructed seats in the arena (sat in some during the Grizzlies Playoff games). I am sure they will get that fixed.
Well, they are here now. Time to get ready to enjoy them.
Will have to literally move walls (made of concrete I believe) around to accommodate more seats that can see all the action without having to look up at the TV screen. Will be interesting how they pull that off during summer breaks.
