Anybody going to the Vegas Bowl?

If it is, I fear we’re in trouble. Feels like we’ll need to show really well for a chance to make it out of the minor leagues.

No one (we have) would have defended that 2nd TD - perfect pass. 1st TD, maybe the safety is in better position. But maybe they score a different way. No way to know. And no, Bishop would not have changed Barnes stat line one bit.

But again, they chose not to play to get ready for the NFL. We’ve touted our next up mentality. I feel those that played defense did as good as any defense we could have fielded only yielding 14 points. The loss was on the offense. Bernard being back helped, but JJ was the same most of the season - get a few good runs, then unavailable the rest of the game. Glover was good too. Vele (also NFL, so I don’t blame him) and Mikey (could have played I guess) might have been more disruptive to Barnes, but his throws were off most of the night.

Barnes gave it everything he had as a Ute. We have to admire that. But he was awful tonight. I can’t imagine many teams are eager to have him running their offense next season after this display.

Tonight’s episode of Reacher was pretty good. :sunglasses:

I killed a giant dragon in God of War Ragnarok, which was quite fun.

I tore the tag off my new mattress without getting permission :flushed:

Since you’re the only one who you have to get permission from I bet that was awkward

It has to be better than watching that trainwreck of a bowl game.

Probably the most disappointing presser from Whitt I’ve seen.

I couldn’t bear to watch or listen. What did he say?

That the O-Line didn’t play well (fair)

That Rose isn’t ready for a game. Here’s the quote:

But most baffling is he kept sticking to the “Barnes gave us the best chance to win”. I honestly have no idea how he was saying that with a straight face.

If that’s true, I think the staff needs to do some soul searching. Yes, the injury situation was ridiculous, but if we aren’t willing to try someone other than Barnes when he’s that bad that’s an issue to me.

This is interesting. Rose’s dad retweeted this tweet:

I don’t agree with the tweet. Three weeks isn’t enough time to replace D1 game experience, and there was no reason to worry that Bryson would give his worst performance ever in this game. Still, it would be a shame if Rose ends up in the portal before the 2024 season.

I wish Bryson well and am grateful for his grit and the games he won for us. I’m also glad we won’t have to depend on him any more.

I also forgot to mention, Kyle claims Rose warning up was something he did on his own. Said no one told or instructed him to throw.

Weird.

After sleeping on it, I ain’t even mad. Depleted defense was still pretty great, depleted office was dogsh*t. A microcosm of this entire season, really,

The biggest observation I came away with after seeing reactions last night is that many Utah fans vastly overestimate our place in the college football food chain.

We are not a blue blood. We don’t restock with 4 and 5-star guys. Utah finds success through development of unheralded players. We overachieve because we outwork and out-tough most teams, not because we have significantly more talent on the field. Take out 3/4 of those players, and you get what happened last night.

Those wishing we “blow it all up” should be careful of what they wish for. Some teams who try that simply never recover and spend decades languishing in obscurity.

For the coaching staff, and players, I think that I’m glad the season is over. I am proud of how the team persevered. IMO, it is a testament to how good the coaching staff is, and how resilient the players are.

Here’s to Season 1 in the Big XII. Hopefully we don’t have a repeat of this season’s injuries, and the team demonstrates just how good it is.

No apocalyptic events here last night. It was hard to watch; but given the number of players that were out there with little or no D1 experience, it was easier to look at this one like an early season game. It will look different after the Spring Game and the dust settles for the portal.

The one thing I hope happens is JJ getting healed up and getting things figured out on why the high ankle sprains keep happening. I am sure it’s gotta be driving him crazy, and it isn’t the kind of pain that is easy to play through. The twist and hit he took last night that ended the evening for him was ugly, and I hope he recovers from it quickly.

On to next season.
