i spent 8 and half inning just getting ready to be let down again. games 3 and 4 shattered any good will games 1 and 2 did.

It’s funny to see the contrast between Mariners fans and Dodgers fans here on this board. While the Mariners fans are, how shall I put this, Charlie Brownesque, the Dodgers fans are all out there in their own thread beating their chests as if they were silverback gorillas. With the former I can empathize, history is hard to ignore. The latter are simply insufferable. If the Mariners do, by some wild and unexpected miraculous circumstance advance to the next step, let’s hope they can wipe the smug, mealy-mouthed smiles off of the faces of those cocksure Dodger faithful.

Well today it’s for the American League pennant. The Mariners know they can win in Toronto. I hope they figure it out and pull it off.
West Coast Series are always a better watch.

I might be the only one on this forum that cares about this, but the San Francisco Giants are finalizing a deal to hire Tony Vitello from the Tennessee Vols as it’s new manager.
It’s an odd move by Buster Posy to hire a college coach, but I’m not sure a manager is crazy important in MLB. As an example Rocker Ute could have led the Dodgers to the WS this year despite his mom taking Tylenol when she was pregnant.

The one thing that a manager controls and is very much to blame if mishandled is the bullpen. That is where a good manager can shine. One thing you can say about college coaches, they never worry about a pitchers arm because when it does go kaboom (and it will), the pitcher isn’t his worry anymore.
This same abuse of pitching arms is rampant throughout college, travel, and showcase baseball because of the same aligment of interest.
Can Vitello handle a bullpen and manage the abuse of the arms that he HAS to manage in MLB, but never had to worry about in college?

If you hire an experienced pitching coach and lean on him/her then maybe it works?

18 innings…and Toronto watching that guy get on base nine times. 4-4 hitting and all those intentional walks

Yeah, it’s anyone’s guess what today’s game looks like, but that game ended at 3 am in Toronto.
Jetlag is nastier eastbound, but… let’s just say the 8:15 kickoff for the boyz from Cincinatti should help pay some benefit in the 4th quarter.

I was one of those on the Eastern Seaboard that stayed up to watch. I’m feeling it today. Man, that was a helluva game.
I did have a thought during the game last night. How good would it be to have Bob Costas and Joe Buck calling last night’s game on tv? All of the historical trivia that would have come up. Just the equivalent to a shower thought.
