America's Pastime

I just remember that 1963 was the beginning of my hatred of the Dodgers.

Yankees fans are all sore losers.

As long as the Yanks or the Dodgers don’t win the series, I’m happy.

Lets be honest here, the Dodgers have won what, 7 championships? I just don’t understand the aversion to a team that I feel is mostly known for blowing it as opposed to a team like the Yankees that has the highest WS winning percentage of anyone in the MLB. The Dodger hate is funny to me. They’ve mostly been a disappointment.

as a life long SF Giants fan I’m contractually obligated to hate the Dodgers

I haven’t liked the Dodgers since the early 70’s. Having a cousin who was an insufferable Dodger fan was part of the reason. Wanting the Giants to win the division was another reason. And I didn’t particularly like their players at that time.

The Yanks…well there’s plenty of reasons not to like them. They are basically the Dallas Cowboys of baseball.

Don’t poke the Harp. His slash line? 383/.500/.882 That’s an OPS of 1.382

That’s an insult to the Yankees. The Yankees have been far more successful than my Cowboys. Now the owners are comparably irritating. But as far as organizations go, the Yankees are better run, most seasons.

NYC is nothing like Dallas.

Also, Concerned was also insufferable in those days.

I beg your pardon. I dont really follow baseball any more, and if I rooted for any team it would probably be the Orioles. I could tell you every starting player on every Dodger world series team from the 60’s through 74 but pobably very few after that.

The Yankees have being going downhill since they got rid of George Costanza.

You have to remember that the Dodgers were carpetbaggers that abandoned millions of loyal fans for the glitz of Hollywood. As a result, baseball got the Mets. What a nothing burger.

This is what you got when the Dogers went Hollywood.

I was a Dodgers fan at birth. To me, the Giants were Juan Marichal hitting John Roseboro on the head with a bat. No, I’m not THAT old, I just a had a photo of that incident taped above my bed.

And I hate the Cowboys. But my highest level of hatred is for the Yankees and Mets. Well, I actually hate any team based in the NYC Metro area, so it also includes the Knicks, Jets (so easy to do especially with that moron Zack Wilson), Giants, etc. etc. However, I am a Bills fan, but as someone who lived in Upstate NY and attended an Upstate NY University, the Bills are NOT from the NYC area.

The Koufax photos just bring back the good times. I actually saw him pitch when I was a little child (I only remember it because I saved all of the memorabilia from that game, including the program). Watching his pitching motion is really strange, because I don’t think anyone pitches like that these days.

The Giants are just a bunch of battery-chucking water hoarders by a bay. I don’t know where they’re going to get their D cells now that all the retailers moved out of town. Maybe had they bought the batteries before they threw them, maybe they would still have stores. Anyway, Oakland, Richmond, and San Jose thank you for your economic collapse.

I listened to them often, especially when the A’s played the Red Sox, the loveable long-time underdogs.

Lovable until 1986.

When Red Sox Nation arose, and sidewalk fans emerged in hordes, the magic was gone. I have been to a few games at Fenway and it is a very charming, historic place. So is Wrigley Field. The old Yankee Stadium had its own special magic. I do love Dodger Stadium, now the 3rd-oldest in MLB. I know some others have no Dodgers love. I don’t care.
