Chocolate malt and a beer ? Thats like smoking a fine Cuban and sipping on a Tab.
Nah, I don’t drink at all or smoke so all of this is lost on me. When I did I felt like ■■■■■■■■■■
After Tab lost market share, didn’t aviation maintenance shops use it as a solvent when doing hot section overhauls? I thought Fletch pioneered that work, for some reason.
Insert obligatory “ball bearings” reference here.
Bobcat Goldthwaite used to say it had the same ingredients as a battery…
Right before he took a giant swig. ![]()
A girl I had sort of a crush on while living in Austin Hall was a bonafide Tab addict. She’d have it with breakfast along side eggs, pancakes, whatever. I worked the desk at Austin, and one day the soda machine in the girls’ wing stole her quarter. She was over the top mad. I became convinced they had to have something highly addictive in that swill because the taste was awful.
Automatic REC!!
No, that was Quaker State antifreeze. No, make that Prestone.
I think he soaked the “fetzer valve” in it along with some 3 in 1 oil!
Wifey and I moved to San Diego in December 1983. Just in time for the 1984 Padres. I’ve been a beleaguered fan ever since. We had always made fun of the “big market” teams that spent a king’s ransom on trades and free-agents only to do poorly in the long run.
The Padres find themselves squarely in said predicament this year. Definitely the most disappointing year in their history considering many “experts” had them in the World Series and possibly winning it.
Hey, at least we have Petco Park, a gorgeous venue in every way.
Nolan Ryan was one for the ages. He pitched in 807 games, threw 222 complete games , and had 61 shutouts. He threw an incredible 5,386 innings and struck out 5,714 batters—an average of more than one an inning.
With starters now being pulled with at or near 100 pitches per game, I doubt we’ll ever see another Nolan.
Did you happen to see Quinn Matthews of Stanford 156 pitch complete game in the Super Regionals? Was beautiful, but Esquer took a lot of heat for it.
I haven’t been very diligent about my MLB/baseball watching but I’ve been enamored with Shohei Ohtani this season. Hopefully he keeps it up, and hopefully he signs with Los Doyers. I’ve never seen a two way player like him before.
Why do you hate America?
Exactly. He might as well have said Yankees, as long as he was going with someone despicable.
My Dad was from Jersey and a Yankee fan, so I Decided to grow up in Boston as a Yankee fan. What a gabadost!
I just want an even more unfair advantage, that’s all.
You have to first hand live the L.A. Dodgers culture to really appreciate it. It was my upbringing and a part of my identity growing up. I offer zero apologies!
