With Irving gone for the rest of the season and AD limited, their season will be over before the end of the month.
Last night, they ended the game with only 5 players that could play. They have 7-8 but some got injured or were getting stitches. They have a roster spot, but only $50k and a 10-day contract is $100k. So, hopefully, they suck and drop out of the playoff picture soon.
Problem for the mavs dropping out of the playoff picture is that phoenix has been checked out since the trade deadline and portland suddenly realized that they want to keep their draft pick so they dont need to charge into the play in game.
But even if they hold on to that 10th spot, theyll almost certainly be done after the first play in game.
As the Big 12 tournament starts today, its got me thinking about how quiet things have gotten on the staff front and Im just saying that if I had andre miller ready to go, id announce it right after a loss in the conference tournament, within the next day or so.
The team is showing up in some NIT projections still. Wonder if they would take an invite if it came.
I would be pretty surprised if Utah got an NIT bid. I suppose if they beat UCF and Kansas. But I don’t expect the latter to happen.
68 in the NET rankings (will slip a spot or two after tonight) but generally thats good enough. 17 teams declined a bid last year. We will certainly be in the conversation, but with an interim head coach and as disinterested as we have looked for much of this second half, my guess is we pre emptively decline.
When I saw Alex was the candidate, I had this very reaction: how the !@#$ is he supposed to overcome the NIL recruiting barriers? Any Utah coach has the deck stacked against them.
Hi y’all.
I haven’t really followed the Utes for a little while. Life took over.
'K, thanks, bye.
Been implied by others that the boosters who demanded a change are ready to pony up some $$$$ to help with acquiring talent.
Those same people are now going to be solicited to pay to replace the JMHC. (To say it’s moving is disingenuous at best.)
They are probably keeping the name though. Which would then make a little sense about saying it is moving.
This will probably be a more unique funding model.
Given that it’s not just an athletic thing there will probably be other funds involved
I expect they likely have some major donors already lined up which will be announced once they have a location and design ready for release. This is a pretty common format for major projects like this. Back when I was in the fundraising game the anchor donors would be lined up long before any sort of announcements were made.
Any updates on Andre Miller? Is he coming too?
The Utah Football subreddit says he was hired. I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
Seems like the usual suspects are playing the “neener neener i have info” game on twitter . I mean, if I was the department and had the season (possibly) coming to an end last night and could get the Andre Miller news out there, id do it asap.
I imagine that the retired jerseys will be moved, as well as a chunk of the floor or something like that. Maybe Chris Hill’s chair.
I’ll miss being able to use the urinal, turn around 180 degrees (without taking a step) and being able to wash my hands.
I think there are single family homes with bigger bathrooms.
Introductory press conference with Alex is Monday. 6:00 pm at the JMHC.
Open to the public
Let’s hope he brings Andre Miller with him.
Well at least there’s one thing we can count on
No matter what the news is someone will complain it’s not enough
