I don’t know if you look at the available seats when it is your turn to upgrade or change. I usually do just to gage what is available. There are typically a number of 1 seats or 2 seats available. This year however there are groups of 4, 6 and 8. I have seats in W14 and N25. There are about 100 total seats available in W14 and about 25 available in N25. if that ratio holds true throughout the stadium, that would mean there are about 2,000 seats available.
Our tickets, including crimson club in W14 are 1,625 each and 625 each in N25. I also like to compare the cost of our seats to what BYU charges. They charge about $1,000 for seats comparable to our W14 seats.
I think the AD has made an error in raising prices 2 years in a row and this is just the start. See mens basketball
They just hide it by not lowering it when they go back to 6 games.
They’ve done it for years.
One thing to note about our neighbors down south, they’re now severely limiting how many tickets people can get, and, reseat the entire stadium every year.
The only way to avoid being moved is to be a stadium donor.
This will very likely be our last year for season tickets. Between the continuous price increases on tickets and this year’s increases in cost to the tailgate pass, they have finally priced us out.
This will absolutely be the last year for my wife and I in our current seats. the last 8 or 10 years continued significant price increases and CC increases, along with the elimination of the tax credit means I’m now out of pocket something on the order of 300% more. And on retirement income, that can’t go on for ever.
I already have 3 close friend couples who stopped purchasing this year or last, and know two more who like me will not renew in our current seats.
Our current seats are on the east side, just above the entrance level, in one of the two most central sections, so we’re in very expensive spots relatively. We are all thinking we will look to downgrade seats (and giving levels) and if what we find is acceptable, we’ll be back. If not, we won’t. I’m a little afraid of what I’ll find.
And I don’t think the athletic department has any clue that they are pricing people out. They are whistling past the graveyard thinking that they will get 98% renewal forever. I believe they have no idea how disillusioned people are with NIL and the resulting player turnover.
I think I’m really close to you. I have 2 seats on the 50, my two sons have 2 seats next to them, going back to when my dad was in the Bleacher Utes.
The CC portion is breathtaking. I have a couple of seats in the NE corner around the same level, row 31, and 3 seats in the NEZ I resell to a coworker.
The CC fee is probably going to make those bench seats a premium. If I could get 2 more seats in the NE, we’ll go with the angle view.
I hoops I’m told though the attendance is “modest”, there are many seats in the prime sideline sections that are bought up, not many to be sold. Corporate write offs, I suspect.
I had 3 seats for decades on the center aisle, row 14, section M, and when the crimson club fees were allocated across basketball tickets also, it didn’t feel so overwhelming. But honestly, basketball has been pretty dismal most of the last 20+ years, and I gave up on the program a few years ago. So now that CC fee is just plain gigantic, covering only a pair of tickets in one sport.
I sincerely hope the program under Jensen is salvageable. I think it is! And if things start looking up, I’ll consider getting basketball tickets again, but not EVER again in one of the better (higher priced CC seating) sections. The tickets, and CC fees I have now in football, and the tickets I had historically in baseketball, are no longer affordable for average people and not at all for retirees. I’m sure most of those seats are owned by, or will soon be owned by corporations.
I know a couple of people who have given up their football tickets and tailgate pass in favor of Utah Mammoth tickets. I will still keep my football tickets for now. I used to have basketball season tickets but the last couple of years I have just got a conference pack in the upper bowl GA area. I will likely add baseball tickets next season though. The new ballpark is great and the tickets are actually affordable. The atmosphere and game experience is good as well.
I have heard from an astounding number of people that they have been priced out. I’ve also heard from others that they’ve been contacted with offers to move up or pick up additional seats.
Too bad, really. Each year I get closer to adopting another team like Weber State or Utah State and get back to what I used to love about college sports.
My mother had season tickets every season since 1969. She had to give them up after last season, and not because she is too old. It’s simply not affordable anymore. Sad.
My upgrade/add seats window opened last Thursday and I was surprised at how much inventory there was this year. That said, there has been a waitlist of people wanting to get in on season tickets for a long time. Perhaps this is the year some of those folks get into the stadium. Utah has been riding the 98% renewal train for a long time but that has also meant that new folks were blocked from getting in. Sadly it is a different class of people who can now afford these tickets vs a lot of those who had been there before. It will be interesting to see how things go this year.
What? You’re not excited about the great states of Idaho, Arkansas and West Virginia? I do suppose, however, when I think about it, that Utah does kind of fit in with that crowd.
