2025-26 Men's BBAll

Watching a little bit of BYU vs. Clemson. Former Ute Jake Wahlin plays for Clemson is starting and getting some good minutes. Along with Dawes, Wahlin was someone I had hoped would stay.
DeBantsa is really good. BYU is really good, especially defensively.

I will tell who is good: Michigan. Destroying everyone.

I agree, too was hopeful Whalin would have stayed. I felt like he had a lot of upside. Him and KD, those were basically the only two guys I hoped would maybe stay.

Just finished watching the Mississippi State game. An epic collapse by the Utes. They blew a 16-point lead. Ouch.

We were up and feeling pretty good, then Miss State cranked up the defensive pressure, and we just wilted.

They had a couple of players get hot - like we had in the 1st half - and just made more plays. We had it tied late, but they rekindled their momentum and we walked off the floor in defeat.

Our big lead was a little deceiving - McHenry was red hot in the 1H, ended up with 29. Brown made some plays, had 22, nobody else in double figures. Traore with some key turnovers and mistakes late.

Dawes looked credible, took some open 3s that wouldn’t go down, battled against some bigger frontline talent. Abbey showed signs of taking a step - 2 threes, one each way. Sanders had some good plays - blocked finger roll layup, had his own blocked.

We could grow from this, or we can settle. Every win we get will be a fight, we’ll have some losses where we’re just out-matched.

This team better learn resilience.

It’s going to be a long season. A lot of work needs to be done to get this team playing competitive ball. They show flashes, but the fundamentals of defense and “hustle points” have been lacking. Hopefully they figure something out soon or the boat race will be on - the opposition in speedboats and us driving the dinghy.

You’re 100% correct. This will be like Larry K’s first year. This team is better, but this year’s competition is tougher. I see Utah going 3-17 in conference play with no wins on the road. Just being realistic.

Is it possible to merge the two threads for 2025-2026 Men’s bball?
