2024 football schedule

Really?

I assume you are being sarcastic. All moves are money moves in Modern College football. It’s why the invite was made. There was no reason to be anything but Pac 8 if not for money. The SEC only started doing a Conference Title for money and then everyone else followed because of the money. We

I don’t necessarily disagree with this, and it may be my homerism justification, but the PAC-12 made a ton of sense for other reasons than just money, and that’s the difference for me.

Also, put all the flame emojis in the known universe for the Utah matchup with whatever directional florida school, and it will still register as a “could not give a ■■■■ less” on my radar.

I think it was in part motivated by money (of course) but a lot of prestige came with the invite, not to mention a ton more exposure. It was an opportunity that couldn’t be passed on.

What’s funny is that Directional School is applying to be an AAU school (which should excite some of you) and has an Undergraduate enrollment of 59,710. So, a little 1/4th the size of your Salt Lake. Plus, I hear their space program is pretty awesome: https://www.ucf.edu/space/

I swear that the Big XII is a former Power 5 conference. Now part of the “Power 4” and many analysts are saying it’s probably the 3rd best conference. Many years the P12 was seen as subpar to the Big XII.

I feel like a camp counselor trying to cheer up the rich kid who got an Audi over a Mercedes.

Good breakdown of the Conference schedule by 247 and CBS analyst Josh Pate:

With an easier schedule you should be a Playoff team with a possible first round bye.

Now. In Hoops 8 of the Top 25 are from the Big XII. Y’all are going to need to get to work in hoops. You are in a vastly superior hoops conference as of 2024-25 season.

Bama fan you seem like a good guy, but telling us how we should feel or fan is a losing battle.

Just as we dont know whay its like to be a Bama fan, you dont know what its like to be a Utah fan?

And saying that playing Oklahoma St is every bit as prestigious as playing USC, Oregon or UW is disingenuous at best.

I agree with @sweetgrass. @BamaFanNKY you are a fan of the most successful team in the most successful conference in CFB history. Your perspective is a bit skewed, it seems. We do like having you here, but playing with the likes of Iowa State and UCF after competing against SC, UW, Stanford, etc is a hard pill to swallow right now.

You’re coming from a different starting place than many of us. We suffered through bad years in the WAC. When I was at the Fiesta Bowl in 2004, tears came to my eyes at the start. We actually made it to a New Years Day bowl. The Pac 10 was a different world of football. I bet most people connected with the U at the time saw it that way. It was about more than just money.

You also have to understand that Utahns have always had something of an inferiority complex.

Fair enough. I also think I have a recent memory where the Pac 12 just wasn’t great. I also think this is a better opportunity for Utah to get in the playoff. Which at the end of the day is the ultimate goal in modern football as it stands.

It’s all about making the 12.

Also, I have worked for UK (Football moreso because I was there for Tubby and Pitino years on hoops), Vandy, Tennessee State Univ, and WKU sports in broadcast form so I sort of understand being the one knocked down.

I get that. I was more or less saying it’s why the Pac 12 was also expanding. Expansion as a whole screwed the whole game up. That said, the hoops is going to be :fire: compared to the inferior product the Pac 12 has been playing recently.

If there is going to be a Super Conference of 24 or 32 teams, the SEC and B1G need to start shedding the Mississippi St, Vandy, Purdue and Northwestern type schools.

Cool. Don’t care.

The reason I put “directional school” in the original comment is because I honestly didn’t remember which of those was the one that Utah was lumped with and I didn’t care enough to look. The point of what I’m saying is that all the machinations have taken away my interest and love of the game. It’s just not fun anymore.

I’ll say it here again. I don’t care about prestige. I have ZERO interest in traveling to Stillwater Oklahoma. None. I have a list of amazing things I’d love to see and do in those other locales, and I live 2 hours from one of them. I know I’m probably an oddball, but football is kind of secondary when going on trips to see the Utes. Bama mentioned that Houston is a cool food city and I’m sure that’s the case, and if I had any interest in going there either, I’d be looking up the spots to go. But it’s too damn far away, located in the failed state of texas and I have no interest in going there.

You sound like you’re fun at parties.

This is part of why the ultimate “power” conference (or association or whatever) will probably not be a continuation of some existing conference(s)…at least not legally speaking. It’ll be a whole new entity, and one that may not be tied to the NCAA at all. It’s hard to see the Purdues, Minnesotas and South Carolinas being part of that league.

Wait until I put the bear costume on.

My fear: the networks were able to squeeze the PAC12 this last round of TV conference negotiation. I anticipate they’ll do the same thing with the Big XII the next go around.

Yep.

You and I know CFB is a sport where if you don’t take opponents seriously, almost every team you face can rise up and beat you.

In the MWC no matter how talented we were, beating New Mexico was always a chore. There will be some school in the Big-12 that will play that role, guaranteed. Those EST games will be a real challenge.

Turnovers, bad bounces, flukes, injuries and refs have caused cumulative betting swings bigger than the GDP of many nations.

Don’t yawn on any win, shake off the losses.

I agree.

The media landscape ain’t done changing.

Now we’re talking! Look, I get where you are coming from. I don’t go to many SEC Road games because I hate spending money in most of the states.
