2022-2023 Utah Basketball Thread

Five games in a row now where the Utes can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Sigh.

Stefanovic…LOL

At least we’ve done better the second half.

I like Smith and the rest of the staff, but until we have more than 1 legitimate PAC12 starter, this is what we will be.

Team shooting…ouch. Unless these guys want to out rebound the other team by 20+ boards and make sure those all turn into shots, hitting one of three shots from the field is not going to collect a win.

And our only legit starter is an LK recruit.

Worster might not be a star, but I think he’s been a pleasant surprise.

As of this morning, we have zero verbal commitments for the 2023 team. It’s hard to determine what that really means in this revolving door era of MBB, but it probably isn’t good. Granted, this season has seen a lot better overall performance than last season. The big question is can they take another step next season?

It’s hard to tell at this point. Hopefully we have a mini run in Vegas and in the NIT that generates more interest from prospects.

If anyone told me we’d be in the Top 2, Top 4 in the PAC with a month to go, I would have thought they were high as a kite… or California fell into the ocean.

Weird conference season. The Stanford game was a good example: we were on a run and favored, they had a bunch of losses. Then the Cardinal became the team nobody wanted to face, and we ran out of gas, with a couple of injuries and a team that peaked early.

Hopefully with Worster & Gabe back we can find another win or two. I’m interested to see what Smith can do in recruiting for Year 3.

I really hope I am wrong, but I think we have seen our last win for the year. We have lost our shooting abilities, and those are not things that seem to come back all at once. Stanford is a tough draw. The NIT is unknown but if we can get the ball to go in the hoop, then it will probably be a loss.

There, now my expectations are down to zero and I can enjoy March Madness.

Branden Carlson is PAC 12 1st team.

Branden has had a fine year. better at rebounding, blocking shots, and defending. Cooled off a bit from the field the last few weeks though. Hopefully he’ll come out tomorrow night and hit enough of his shots to get us to Thursday.

After all he has been through with injuries, etc., really glad for him.

Congrats to Branden.

Hopefully he comes back for his extra year. If he doesn’t come back the Utes could be really bad next season.

Wish he had more help.

Watching Utah/Stanford on YouTube. Man, our team’s collective basketball IQ is low. Stefanovic can’t shoot.

Also, our team doesn’t seem to understand passing angle/lanes (sans Worster).

well that was depressing

Is an NIT bid in danger now?

Can’t imagine why Utah would be selected.
