Utah finishes 8th and gets first round bye. BYU 9th seed plays Houston. Utah vs BYU looks like a lock

I watched the end of ASU v TTU where TTU held on to win at the end. That meant that ASU and BYU tied. So, I looked up how BYU did vs ASU this year. Of course BYU beat them twice, so they got the 9 seed and ASU the 10.
I am not very comfortable in saying we can beat those “friends” down south. They have really clicked this last part of the season. If Cummard can keep a decent pipeline going, he seems like a coach that keep them good for a long time. This year with the frosh Hamlin, they have two scorers you have to guard. So either Hamlin or Gibb goes off on you.
That said the Utes are the better road team, so let’s see what happens. Beat the Y, then play well against TCU and we will see if that is enough for the tournament. Just knocking off the Y opens up one of the last four teams.

Tournament action today…
Kansas St blew out Cincinnati in the first game.
2nd game, Houston tied with BYU at 29. BYU has played horribly and would be down double digits to any team other than Houston. I don’t expect the Y to keep up such miserable play, but if Houston can hang close it forces BYU to use their starters longer with a game tomorrow and coming in tired.

Well, off to the NIT, if the team wants the bid.
That is now twice that the team has blown big halftime leads against BYU. flip those 2 games and we are still right there for a bid. Itd be one thing if BYU was good; they arent.

I watched the game this morning, and OMG!! Looked so good in the 2nd quarter, then so, so bad.
This team was up and down in shooting all year long, just more down than up in the last part of the year.
If BYU makes the tournament, with their paper soft non-conference schedule, I will be mad (sports mad, not real mad).

If I’m not mistaken, Utah beat the 4 teams in the semifinals, KState, TCU, West Virginia and Colorado.

Not quite Utes related. Just watched the highlights of UCLA vs Iowa in B10 tourney championship and UCLA won 96-45…wowza. Nice seeing Kneepkens playing freely and not having to shoulder a team every night. She scored 19 in 29 minutes; 6-11 from the field and 4/8 from 3.
I happen to be a fan of coach Close at UCLA. She seems to be a class act.
