Utes and ISU thread

Not watching the game. Don’t care to. To me, it’s mostly on the coaches. Ill recruiting. Ill prepared.

All I’ve heard for years is how awesome the recruiting is and how much better it is than BYU’s. Yet here we are. Again, it can’t only be the injuries.

Not placing it all on the freshman. He is regressing. But most of the team is playing terrible and yes it’s clear the failure is shared from the top down…or should be.

But not seeing IW develop at all the last few games and that makes me doubly worried about next year. But again that concern is about far more than the QB.

I believe we have recruited the players. Some of the coaches have failed to either develop them or put them into situations to succeed.

Just talked to a buddy I first met in the dorms 45 years ago. We can’t recall an offense this inept.

It’s hard to tell, because Iowa St. is a whole lot better defensively than UTEP, New Mexico, Hawaii, Wyoming, Air Force, SDSU, etc. of the 80s and early 90s. The worst offense I can recall in my lifetime was the 1990 team, which was a little more productive than this team but against much worse defenses.

Not even a throw to a tight end in the first half

2000 we went 4-7 in the MWC but I was out of the state that year so missed most of it.

Before that 1990 was our other 4 win season when I was in college. But didn’t have time for football then :grimacing:

Bernard is good but he can’t carry the ball 30 times a game and our line is giving him nothing at all to work with. Some short TE passes might help…

IW taking 10 seconds to throw a 3 yard pass on 3rd and 12 sums up the complete collapse of our O.

Another stellar drive. There is zero creativity in anything offensively. No toughness either.

What is the collegiate record for least first downs by a team in a complete game?

Everything ISU throws up in the air, they catch. Heck, why not try that offensively? Just lob the ball to Singer.

and we give up another 3rd down. This team is broken

I am to the point when I see Iowa State with third and six and I think “OK, they’re gonna get it, probably pretty easily.” And they do.

Hey, that ISU quarterback finds himself in trouble, deep in the backfield, about to be sacked, and he throws the ball out of bounds. What an interesting way to deal with that situation.

If we win this game, it’s going to rank as one of the ugliest wins I’ve ever seen by a Utah team.

That fumble may mean we don’t have to consider a shocking outcome like winning.

I think a lot of our fans are getting a a bitter lesson this season, after trashing the Big12 and bragging about how we were going to roll through the league, probably undefeated, and head to the CFP.

:flushed:

And another devastating and questionable PI call.
