Given what we saw out of the mothership and FOX over the last several seasons, I am sure the kids and Bill will be an improvement.
I am trying my best to be excited about this season, but finding it difficult. Feels like we are back in the MW. That this team may be our best ever keeps me going. But not the schedule.
I just pray that Kyle really has some inside knowledge about a new super league and is not just speculating and that we will be part of it.
Maybe Kyle is a secret leader of this new football cabal?!
I think we will have solid opponents with lesser names. Hopefully we play to our standard and not become complacent.
do we get the broadcast team of Steve Brown and Mike Norseth for old times sake?
I donât want to read too much into his interview with Canzano, but he might well know some things that make him speak about the subject more confidently than is his custom.
Ha ha. Or before that when KUTV braodast the games, and we got Dave Fox and Neil Hancey. I was young, but I also have vague memories of Bill Howard doing play by play.
I want to see a holographic version of Marcroft⌠laughing, saying stupid things and getting people irritated.
We need to have an edge!
Bill Howard was a proâŚbut does anyone remember he looked like he wasnât looking right into the camera?
knowck on wood. Speculating does not seem to fit his personality.
How about when Paul James (if only they had called that foul we would have won instead of lost by twenty) did the Ute broadcasts before Welti and he moved to Channel 5.
My memories of Paul James were something like this:
âJim McMahon just set an NCAA record for pass completions in the first quarter of a road game where the opposition was wearing green and the crowd was less than 30,000â
So youâre saying we need announcers who fill airtime with a barrage on nonsense non sequiturs.
The Athletic has done an âOddly Specific Predictionsâ column again for college football this year. This type of column was originally done by Sean McIndoe one of the NHL writers on the site, where he would attempt to predict weird things happening, like, on this date against this team, this prospect will score his first goal, things like that. This football version isnât as good as that (mainly because his predications are not that odd), but it does hold some interest. Here is one about Utah.
13. Utah
Kyle Whittinghamâs team would have made a hypothetical 12-team Playoff field in three of the last five years. Cam Rising, Micah Bernard and Brant Kuithe will get Utah in the real one this December. That doesnât mean there wonât be some bumps in the road for the Utes, who will lose at Oklahoma State in the regular season before punching the Big 12âs only ticket into the Playoff field with a league crown. Kuithe (60 catches, 600-plus yards, nine TDs) wins the Mackey Award.
Two weeks and counting.
Break out candidate for this year at RB:
Mike Mitchell - Football - University of Utah Athletics
Now up to 219 lbs, ran a 10.81 100M in HS, made waves last year as a redshirt, another FL player.
Remember #21⌠and you heard it here, first.
Iâve never seen a Bio this long from a coach: Alvis Whitted - Football Coach - University of Utah Athletics
The football part is beyond long.
The track part at the end is brief, but pretty damn impressive: 5 time ACC champ in the 100, 200 & 400, competed in the US Olympic trials against Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson, where a new WR was set.
Ooookay, then!
âHey Alvis! My granddaughter wants to run track in Jr HS. Could you give her a few pointers?â
I like this from his resumeâŚ

Six Players That Helped Themselves In Camp For Utah Football
The Big 12 is DEFINITELY NOT the Mountain West, attend a game at Oklahoma State, TCU, West Virginia or Baylor to convince yourself of that. The PAC 12 without Oregon, USC and Washington is on par with the MWC. Quit whining, yesterday is yesterday
