He sat in the stands at a gymnastics meet. If Kyle ever came he’d stay on the floor and never interact.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Morgan is far better suited to 2026 college athletics.
I think we can now officially just call this thread season instead of offseason, right?
Anyways, here’s a nice hype video I ran across.
Time will tell, but I think we do have some proof of what kind of coach Scalley is/will be. His defenses were always, always tough. Often they were elite, but even when they weren’t they were still among the top in the nation. Nobody ever wanted to play Utah because they knew they’d come home feeling it.
And he’s done all of that while being a player’s coach, a fan’s coach, an incredible strategic mind, and a good human being. And even when he’s made mistakes in the past, he’s owned up to and owned them. He’s a bit of a unicorn in that regard.
He also isn’t afraid to step on the gas pedal, and some of Whit’s conservative play nature will thankfully be gone. I think he’ll be a great balance of smart coaching and a feeling of when to tear things apart and not look back. He’s been the king of blitz packages, I can’t wait to see that sort strategic risk taking on the offensive side.
I want him to succeed because I want people like him to succeed. He’s a guy who has always got more out of himself, more out of others, and raises all ships. He’s a genuine Utah man and always has been.
It’ll be an adjustment for sure as HC, but I think those sleeping on him are making a big mistake.
Scalley comes from good stock. I coached against his father in little league many many years ago. If fact, his team beat my team in a championship game when some kid named Morgan ran for 3 TD’s.
Anyway, his dad was a great guy and a great coach. There are as many types of coaches as there are people, but two of those are the ones who “forgot more about football than you’ll ever know” and another is “hey, tell me what kind of scheme you use against xxxx”.
Bud Scalley was definitely the latter.
I have full faith in Morgan. And even if there are stumbles, he deserves our support.
That’s a weird coincidence that he has a son named Morgan, and he coached a star player with the same name. It’s certainly not very common. Was it Morgan Freeman, by chance?
And here I thought it was Morgan Fairchild. 
There was also Morgan Woodward who played in the original Star Trek and Dallas. But he’s much older than both of the Morgans mentioned.

Too late Kyle, You lost the vast majority of us. Just because you CAN permissibly stripa program of its staff, doesnt mean you SHOULD. A major buttwhooping for his hubris etc is in order.
I am done with him. I hope he fails miserably at Michigan and fades away into oblivion.
Honestly one of the factors that kind of turned up my intensity of irritation and even anger is that he has not done or said anything to try and force his brother to actually be an honorable man and live up to his contract and not cause any more bad blood. But as far as I know he hasn’t made no effort to do so. If he is it’s certainly quiet and this is the kind of thing you would want to make sure that people knew you were trying to at least do the right thing in that case.
But right now I’m off Kyle and his brother are showing that they talk the talk of being a good upstanding citizen honorable business person etc according to their faith, but in practice they’re not living up to it at all.
Only lot on campus that has non-permit parking is $50!!!
Wheel guard is just got to deal with the fact that we’re going to suffer sticker shock for the rest of our lives. It’s only going to go up. And I’m sorry but blatant politics aside this is all very traceable to the general increase in massive cupidity that is uncontrolled. And the current president is only making the situation as worse as it could possibly be.
Businesses that might otherwise never even consider such a thing have been shown that nothing happens to anybody who engages in illicit and despicable behavior
A few thoughts after the first two games.
Utes did what they should have done in the first two games. Not sure what to make of the USU game. Battled UW - lost at home to Idaho State. They will be motivated against us and we will get their best shot.
I like the Moment of Loudness.
Nice to see the TE get some catches.
Some concerns:
Dampier running so much and taking hits;
For all the talk about the WR group, we have really only played 4 guys.
Although the front 7 was supposed to be Arkansas strong area, we will see better (especially BYU). The OL was not strong in run game or pass blocking. Need to see a lot of improvement.
The numbers were good against Ark, but our run defense is still suspect and we cannot seem to generate pressure without bringing more than 4.

This old gal can’t do the late games anymore. I was out after halftime last night.
This was my biggest concern in last night’s game, particularly late in the game after we were already up by a factor of 10.
