This is going to be a stunning season

Is there a Double Cliff Notes for Dummies version of this?

  • Pedigree - check (Dad is former Ute OL Doug Kaufusi, he who mashed BYU DL into the ground.)
  • Size - 6-6 / 305 - check
  • Leadership Council as a Soph - check

Comment about painting the field and things like that definitely does a five. Before all of this blew up into such a s*** show, jokes about a statue weren’t really that wildly crazy for you to or renaming the field or whatever other nonsense. But I think he has insured by his actual choices and wake of whatever did happen that there’s going to be some actual bad blood left over. I’ll eventually get over my irritation, but I know very well that I will not be alone in lingering resentment and there will be plenty of people who have a long-term one that they will never forgive. At this point we’re far more likely to see a statue or a plaque or a field name for Ron McBride. Because after all, he was really the genesis of Utah becoming a football program in deed not just name.

The Ronnie Mac “MAFU” Ring of Honor has a nice ring to it.

I went to Ames when the Utes smoked their butts. The fans and the vibe at the game was great.

The 2010 Utah–Iowa St. game was nuts. Utah rolled up 68 points in that game, the most in school history for a road game. The game featured several big plays on offense, defense, and special teams. That was a game where I thought Utah might be a legit top-five team. Unfortunately, four weeks later against TCU, we learned otherwise.

One thing that I have heard over and over from a number of different Utah Football alumni when they describe Coach Scalley - “He’s one of us, he’s a Utah man” His outreach to the football alumni will pay dividends. Having former NFLers around when the new recruits come through the football facility is always going to be helpful.

4 storylines to follow as Utah Utes open fall camp – Deseret News

Spoiler:

  • O-line development
  • A deep (if unknown) WR room. Highlighted by Dampier taking the receivers back home to PHX to get in sync. Too many names to mention here.
  • Who will be RB2? Daniel Bray vs Steve Chavez-Soto (Xfr from San Jose)
  • DT development - Kaufusi, Sepulona, Xfrs Jireh Moe, Lucas Samsula & Jamal Wallace.

Joe Coles on DesNews is one of the best writers of Utah sports - I don’t know how much people appreciate it because he is at DesNews which has traditionally been pretty weak on the Utes.

Thanks for sharing @Ma-ake

ESPN conducted simuations on a video game.

Number of playoff bids for the Big 12 from 26 simulations - BYU 13, Texas Tech 5, Kansas State 3, Colorado 2, Baylor 1, TCU 1, Utah 1

This is our playoff season, a national championship for the Pac-12.

Bray, like last year, will be a change-up back and Chavez-Soto will be a guy like 21 (forgot his name) was last year.

Ron said on a KSL interview that Michigan “went after Bird hard.” Here it is:
