The pet peeves thread

We use an Epson ET-2760. It’s not bad as a printer/scanner. It’s software is a bit glitchy. I’m not sure if it’s Windows or the Epson software, but I have to relocate it on the network every so often.

The extra capacity tanks are nice, but because we don’t print super often we have to clean the printhead every couple of months to get good printouts. Otherwise the printhead gums up, ask us how we learned that one. It does make a great cat perch when they deign to supervise us in our home office or want to watch one of us game.

I accidentally fat fingered something while in my Outlook inbox this morning and an entire subfolder where I was storing all my e-mail comms for a huge client project has simply…disappeared.

It didn’t move another folder, it’s not in my Deleted items, it has just vanished. I have no idea where it moved the folder. Ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuu…

Oh crap. My wife uses outlook for work too. She has a love hate relationship with it, among other MS products.

Try a search? That’s an old trick we use in situations like this, after checking deleted items, etc.

Hey IMC, I appreciate the dedication with which you cyberstalk me with e-mail and text messages 4-5 times a day to fill out all the pre-registration forms for my upcoming appointment.

But when I do actually go through your process and complete all the forms online, maybe don’t have me turn around and fill out the exact same forms on paper when I show up for my appointment?

Sounds like my provider too. Plus I get calls. Gets real old real fast.

This… and do they not save any of that info for the next visit? Like do I really need to give you my phone number and insurance info?

I go to the clinic on 9th East and 4th South for my allergy shots once a month, but I at least do the stuff online and don’t have to do anything in person other than just answer the standard litany of questions.

Still, as a 17-year employee at University hospital, I would never willingly use a facility except that’s where the VA has farmed out their allergy services, since over the last 20 years when many of the specialists such as endocrinologist allergist and other types retired they simply didn’t replace them

I don’t know if this qualifies as a pet peeve, but watching gasoline prices take off like a rocket to the moon triggered me into buying an EV yesterday. Now I have to install a charging station in my garage so I don’t go crazy waiting for the charger (on 110v) to charge the car.

Hope my brother has some time (and gummies) to come help me get the new hotness hooked up right.

I lost the remote control to the ceiling fan in my bedroom. I have looked everywhere. Pulled out every dresser, took apart my bed, checked the yard (dog could have decided it was a bone), and checked the car. No luck. I finally bought a replacement remote, and now have the task of trying to sync it up with the fan.

I’m not mechanically inclined nor am I patient, so this is going to be a huge ordeal. Once I get this task done, I’ll likely find the remote in the crisper.

Who decided that chicken nuggets and chicken strips should be all white meat? I object.

It’s pretty much the only way to get rid of that crap.

Well, it used to be they took all the parts, ground them up, formed them into “nuggets,” then cooked them because parts is parts.

Never in the history of mankind did “Please Visit Our Website” ever come close to answering the question at hand.

Under the bed, cleverly disguised as a remote.

I put off doing our tax crap. Ugh, I hate filling out forms, and trying to decipher wtf the IRS and State of NC are really asking for.

Also, not directly related to taxes. I hate Shimano drive trains on bikes. Setting them up is a royal PITA. SRAM and Campagnolo are much simpler to install and set up IMO. Well, mechanical Campy, I’ve not worked on their electronic stuff yet, not enough sold.

Your money?

Well, there’s that, but what forms and crap.

This is one case where we use “an expert”. I’m like you, I can’t stand working through all that paperwork only to be disappointed at the end.

Here’s an ongoing one, probably for many of us.

Insurance claims, medical offices, and over charges.

I’m not even sure where to start on this one. Let’s just say, changing dentists due to a change in dental coverage really is a PITA. New dentist is in network. Office doesn’t submit claim (learned from going through insurance website). Office gives itemized bill, not biggie, it has billing codes. Compare itemized to what the EOC (the cert of coverage with out of pocket costs listed). Office is overcharging per the insurance EOC. Now we’re arguing with dentist office over costs. Ugh.

Let’s just say, insurance can be a good thing. The lack of transparent and up front costs, is not fun. Just going to the dentist is not fun, period.
