I found this article by ESPN to be interesting for a couple of reasons.
The 1st was to get a feel for rivalries around the country. Most are known to some extent by all: USC-UCLA, Alabama-Auburn, Georgia-Georgia Tech, etc.
The 2nd was to see if Utah-BYU got mentioned. Nope, not a peep. I hope that means both sides have more or less moved on and the heat has been turned down.
All in all it was a pretty fun read. I especially like the bit about the Florida-FSU. I forgot about Spurrier and his âFree Shoes Universityâ snipe at Bobby Bowden.
How can you take an article seriously that leaves out the Army-Navy game in the tradition section? Also no mention of Cal-Stanford in the iconic plays section? It was good enough for a documentary but not good enough for this article I guess.
Without BYU, Utah has no rival game. When did we get so soft.
It is a common misconception, even among Trojans under the age of 30. Ugly (aka the Domestic Help) is not our ârivalâ. It is an employer-employee relationship. Our RIVAL is #1 Notre Dame. #2 Stanford.
No taking it seriously. I was entertained and found it interesting. Did ESPN leave a ton of them out? Of course, even ESPN doesnât have unlimited time to chase them all down.
Super smart kids wanting to rebel on their parents go to Berkeley.
Super smart kids who love their parents go to UCLA
Kids not smart enough to go to Berkeley or UCLA, their parents bribe their way into U$C.
Nobel Laureate smack-talk on a sports message board Ok.
Why do collectivists like to brag about accomplishments obtained from using other peopleâs money??? And even then, the Dirty Hippy Athletic Department is the most debt ridden in all of college athletics! No wonder theyâre trying to prevent their ugly sisters down south from leaving the conference. They canât make it on their own financially - like any socialist - and very soon the only contact sport coming out of the University of California at Antifa will be rugby.
Nobel Prizes are a point of pride for any university, so sure, why not smack talk with Nobel Prize winners. There have been over 100 individuals associated with Berkeley that have won Nobel Prizes, most of them in chemistry and physics. Heck, there are even two chemical elements named after the school, that has to count for something, right?
Iâm sure the school will somehow scratch up some funding for their athletics programs. The taxes you yourself pay in the state help. Thank you for your contribution.
Boy, you really are a giant Jizzbag. You opened the door when you brought in politics by labeling them antifa. Someone pointed out their contribution to the betterment of society vs the contribution of U$C. No contest! You label them a Socialist institution because they rely on tax payer money, please tell me what services/ infrastructure you use paid by tax dollars. Im guessing you drive on roads, freeways, cross bridges and fly into and out of airports. Is LAX a socialist entity? Do your kids go to public schools? Your holier than thou perspective is boring and tiresome. Bask in the glory of Will Ferrell and Tom Selleck and go away!
