Here’s one that is kind of sad. David Allen Coe died today. Boy did he live is own life, and was pretty influential on country music.
It annoys me that he gets the full credit for his biggest hit when it’s a Steve Goodman and John Prine song. Goodman was a gem. Prine thought the song was dumb and refused writing credit, and when it became a hit he was cut out. Goodman bought him a juke box as a gift to make up for it.
DAC was a character, a liar, and a tax cheat among other things. Can’t say I agree with much of what he did, but you do have to admit, he was himself.
In time DAC will have a reckoning with God, and in time he will be forgotten here on earth. To be fair, I thought that he was already dead, so coming across the notification surprised me.
Saying things like this triggers the “Tommy Chong is Dead” crap all over again. We all know he and Keith Richards will toking to their good health long after the meteor kills the rest of us. ![]()
read that former Jazz draft pick and big man Jose Ortiz passed away.

i guess I was a little surprised to read that he was 62, but then remembered that it was all the way back in the 80s when he played for the Jazz.
I was even more surprised to hear that he died of colorectal cancer. If you’re being screened early and regularly enough that just shouldn’t happen.
No. No. No.
Ted Turner age 87
I always liked to hear Ted Turner in interviews.
He was kind of like William F. Buckley, Jr, but with a southern accent and without the words nobody else on the planet uses anymore.

Bobby Cox
One of the greats. Interesting it’s so soon after Ted Turner passed. Between the two of them they spawned an awful lot of Atlanta Braves fans, my son-in-law one of them. They were always on TV.
One from my youth. Crushed when the Broncos (then my favorite team) lost the big one to hated Dallas.
