“Real Genius” is an underrated movie, and shows Val Kilmer at his best.
“I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates who said, “I drank what?””
I just watched “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” for the umpteenth time last week. Such an underrated gem, and Kilmer stole every single scene.
One of the most emotional scenes I’ve ever seen was in the Top Gun sequel where he is non-verbally giving information to Maverick (Tom Cruise) and near the end of the scene he struggles to speak a few sentences to him and the difficulty in doing so was quite real and showed what he was going through in real life.
RIP Val
Wow. Man the memories I have of that man. And the guts to go through adult life with a name like Wink. I remember the Navy officer who ended up winning 200 k over months on TictacDough.
That means there’s only one celebrity named Wink Martindale now, the well traveled NFL defensive coordinator.
Yeah, the first name is probably the first topic in any termination meeting.
“Listen, Wink, I mean Coach Martindale, on the annual fan survey we’ve gotten a lot of complaints about your first name, mostly among the ladies. And, as you know, the opponents’ 3rd down conversion percentage has crept up…”
It was a nickname. Real name Winston Conrad Martindale. I don’t know where the name came from.
I had him on a flight probably 15 years ago. Nice guy, but he dressed like Herb Tarlek down to the white shoes.
Pope Francis RIP
Yeah, this news hit me harder than I thought. I’ve expected this news for awhile, but it still hit hard. I hope that St Peter is happy to see his most recent successor.
He was recently hospitalized for 38 days after a bout with pneumonia. I think most of us thought he was recovering, especially considering he was out in the public yesterday for Easter, but at age 88 you never know?
RIP, by all accounts he seemed like a really good man!
Wow, this is a surprise. I hope his family is doing ok, and will remember the good more than the bad.
Only two years older than me…![]()
He played one of the great TV characters of all time in one of my favorite old shows.
RIP
“Can I pour you a draft, Mr. Peterson?”
“A little early isn’t it, Woody?”
“For a beer?”
“No, for stupid questions.”
“Norm, what do you say to a beer?”
“Hey Sailor, new in town?”
He was great in “Gung-Ho” too.
