Fitting that he died the same year as the PAC-12. He was a huge proponent of the conference.
Iām a huge fan of his broadcast comments. He would say things in such a nice way, you didnāt realize it might be an insult of your favorite team.
He was very well read and would talk about books heās read as much as the game. He would mention some beautiful small towns in Utah, Torrey, Boulder, Escalante, etc.
The ESPN 30 for 30 episodes about him were great.
I hope someone at the PAC-12 network is editing a 6-day long special broadcast on the best of Bill and Dave Pasch as the network fades into that great test screen in the sky.
Iām grieving his untimely death. A truly great man. One of my favorite people.
With his death is extinguished a public source of among my favorite parts of basketball history. He always gave the Utes their due.
Really funny and articulate. And he was very educated. His literary allusions were fantastic.
Years ago, when he worked NBA games for NBC, I was watching a Jazz-Spurs game. He lauded John Stockton with the remark: āJoh Stockton is one of the greatest stories in the history of Western civilization.ā He always had a way with words.
Dave Pasch was the best at keeping Waltonās stream of consciousness in the same hemisphere.
Pasch: "Meanwhile, back at the gameā¦ "
Bill: āThe name is Dave, right?ā (with a big old Walton grin)
The banter between those two was always entertainingā¦ not any typical basketball broadcast.
Met him once at the Hollywood Bowl Dead & Co Halloween show. Very gracious man. This is very sad news indeed.
Noooooo!
That definitely puts a damper on this holiday.
This 2016 interview exemplifies his unique optimism, transparency and intellectual curiosity:
Funny comments from Dave about Bill texting him during games Dave was calling.
classic Walton.
āIām lucky to have watched the whole thing. Please watch more basketballā
Frank Arnold passed away at age 89
Steve Klauke passed away at 69. Was the radio announcer for the Buzz/Stingers/Bees for almost 3 decades.
Damn. His Buzz calls were always good. He really did enjoy baseball, and helped bring it to life with his calls.
Killed by a truck. Life can end that abruptly.
So sad. He just retired from the Bees last season only to be struck down in less than a year.
āThe Logoā passed away today at 86.
Jerry West was a personal hero of mine. He lived a full life and contributed so much to the game. Just a class act.
Wow, losing some legends as of late.
