Rip 2024 / 2025

Do you practice being a prick and a pain in the ■■■, or does it come naturally? You’re implication that rape and murder are non-absolutes to legality and morality, now that’s a slippery slope I hope I never have to see in person. I hope your universe has enough of a soft landing that you don’t get your assed burned on the way down to that ■■■■■ of a landing.

Also, thank you for the reminder to as to why I had you muted for awhile.

I still have him muted. It sucks that I see “unread” topics when it is just him posting 3 or 4 things in a row even though no one has interacted with him.

Recap.
Someone posts the death of a member of My Lai
I say Nationalism can be horrific.
You say I cant blame nationalism for someone following an illegal command.
I say it’s difficult for a soldier to determine what is an illegal command.
You say there are things that are always immoral
I say absolutes are a slippery slope.
You call me a prick.

The Unites States populace learned of the events by the virtue of the fact reporters in a free democracy reported it. The US goverment made changes to the “Articles of war” accordingly. This was an abomination to our goals and caused far more damage than any possible “good” from the behavior of the accused: To say nothing of the sufferning and loss of civilians in combat.
The Unites States millitary is not known for egregious violations of the Geneva Convention, but other armies certainly are.
Whataboutism is a classic ploy of the Russians and other fascist states.
We can do better and we should.

To be clear, we are discussing war here, not a game of checkers. The goal of war is to murder enough of the enemy until they submit to your power.

Same. Only person I’ve ever felt the need to do that at UFN.

Kind of like U$C keeping Caleb Williams in the game when it was obvious that Utah had pinned them into submission

I don’t have him muted only because I want to predict what he’s going to respond with, I’m about 90%. He’s like that annoying kid in school that always wants to correct the teacher.

I know why his arms are tired, he’s spanking his monkey to his own comments.

That sounds like a fun pursuit.

And, an excellent score so far. My own brain gets it right less often.

I was that kid. Score another point.

Crude.

However, I would have predicted this as a perfect opportunity to add another reference to your pilot life in this response, as the name refers to the punchline of a classic joke involving flight.

I just started playing the game, also. I’m 0 for 1 on 330ute comments.

He is the only one I have muted as well. I’m convinced its a byu troll.

The recent history of this thread reminds me of some truisms of life I’ve accumulated over the decades:

  • We’re all mutants, in one way or another. That’s OK, that’s what makes life interesting.
  • A corrollary, from the former MLB player Lenny Dykstra: “Everyone is somebody else’s weirdo”

It’s OK, that’s part of what life is about.

Just get up everyday and try to be a good human being. (Instructions modified for legitimate masochists and sadists)

We need someone famous to die so that we can change the vibe in this discussion.

How about that Richard Simmons died a couple of weeks ago at 76.

Also, a tragic death where former Dodgers pitcher Reyes Moronta dies at 31 in a car crash (thread synergy!!) in the Dominican Republic.

Biden’s campaign died a few weeks ago. Thoughts and prayers for the Democratic Party.
