Chalk this up to one of those things I did not see coming: Mack Brown getting fired at UNC.
I’m not surprised that he won’t be back next season, just at him getting fired. I was under the impression that he was pretty revered there, for a football coach. Guess I was wrong.
Like Texas, I think it was ‘enough is enough’ (2nd time around at UNC). He had solid seasons, going to bowls each year with 7-6, 8-4, 6-7, 9-5, 8-5, and now 6-5 seasons. I wonder if it’s also the shift from old-guard to new skills needed to recruit transfers/NIL vs. HS like we are seeing with some other coaches. He did offer to resign earlier in the season if he felt he couldn’t correct things, but he would just keep hanging on.
We think our Utes are having a rough season? Oklahoma State was picked to finish second, and they are headed for 3-9. Losing at Colorado 21-0 in the first quarter. What happened to the Cowboys?
This one was baffling. Not as many injuries as us. Bowman (qb) wasn’t very effective (16TD/12INT), backup didn’t do much better. They were going to ride Gordon, but either he or OL didn’t yield the run game they needed. Defense was always going to be a little more suspect. Seemed that after a few losses, the team just kind of gave up and stopped fighting. So, maybe locker room drama, NIL frustrations.
we are a 10 point dog to a 4-7 UCF team today. Sigh!
The team seemed to spark a little bit when Bottari came in last week, crossing fingers that we have a little life and UCF comes in with a little holiday hangover.
GT had that game. Bummer for the forced fumble after the qb played his heart (and body) out. So close so many times to just make 1 more play to win.
Also, Kirby is a smug piece of work. Walking on the field to get a sideline warning so he could get a ‘free’ peak at their personnel and formation, then calling timeout almost everytime to really try to exhaust GT’s 2 pt plays. Gamesmanship and legal, but so freakin’ annoying.
