D-I College football thread, non-Utah edition

Glad you’re back. I was really jonesing for some Alabama-related content!

I took a break since the goat retired. Not gonna lie though, I’m still “BamaFan” but I have started following other non FBS teams and more so NBA (Lakers), EPL, Scottish League and MLB (Dodgers) stuff in the past few years. I’ve not liked the direction of college athletics in recent years in terms of realignment. I don’t mind players being paid.

I say this to say I don’t predict my Bama spam to be as strong. As of now the only games I plan on attending in person are Tennessee State, and the Rose Bowl.

That “6” with Oklahoma, at first look I was excited, wow UU has 6! Then I looked at it again, and then again, and finally saw it as OU. Dang!

Also a top 20 power ranking:

Anyone else notice SDSU has 43 commits from recruiting and Portal this season?

Its a very pleasant climate and environment. Probably (although I don’t have first hand knowledge) a pleasant place to go to school.

I have a nephew, who went there for a year for an accelerated graduate program, lived in San Diego for a year afterward, and has been trying to get a job back in the area ever since.

We have a home in San Diego and spend much of the winter there. It’s a great city and we love it. The new stadium is very nice. Saw Jimmy Buffet perform what turned out to be his last concert. They have a new coach who runs an uptempo offense and if they ever get it rolling, SDSU can become a G5 juggernaut. Just look at MBB, they used to have a difficult time drawing 2,000 fans at the sports arena, now they pack their 7,500 seat arena.

I was more commenting on they had that much of the roster to fill. My cousins are all SD people who love the Padres and my Dodger loving (censored) won’t talk to them this time of year.

San Diego is fantastic though

There are a lot of stories coming out about problems at Colorad9.

I wonder if he will still be there when we go to Boulder to play them.

The Buffs totally whiffed on the hire - now they are going to suck again, only in a new conference. SOSDD. I wonder if he will still be around when we travel to Boulder to wreck them.

Ohio State’s NIL payroll is “around $20 million”.

Sigh…

Ryan Day has been their coach since 2019. So, the classes he had the three years prior were:
2017- #2
2018- #2
2019- #14 (Year Urbs stepped down)

Still he had a good base of players coming in. Since he’s been there
2020- #5
2021- #2
2022- #4
2023- #4
2024- #5

The dude at worst already has the #3 roster in all of college football. Results?

56–8. Looks good, right. 2-4 in Bowls and 1-3 in the playoff. He’s 1-2 against his biggest rival. They are so desperate to get this guy over the line. He’s midwest Lincoln Riley. Inherits big program and does absolutely nothing with it.

If he doesn’t win this year they should fire Eddie Munster.

As Eddie Munster coaches in the NBA, firing him would have no effect.

I get what you are saying about having mad talent that underachieves, though.

As a big fan of Eddie Munster, I need to know which NBA team he coaches?

Chicago Bulls

You should. You’ve seen how I talk about Lincoln Riley before he was even hired at SC. Taking over from legends who leave the cupboard full and then underachieving should expose them. Somehow their fanbases don’t see it.

It seems the wheels are coming off the Hype Train.

It is odd a coach would work the summer swing only to quit going into fall camp. That said, it won’t matter - the Buffs will still suck. Their only hope is having transitioning G5 teams on their schedule, though that may not be enough to get to 6-6.
