Poor Oregon State. First DJ, and now their backup bolts too.
They are going to get creamed the same way Hawaii got creamed by Georgia when they made it.
Not sure why Martinez is staying. They literally joined a P5 school on the up and up with Jonathan Smith and now the coach is gone and they are literally aligned to play MWC, G5 schedule.
McCord basically could get beat out by Devin Brown after a âlacklusterâ year (for a OSU qb I guess). Everyone thought Devin would enter the portal, but I guess heâd probably stay.
I thought Dillon Gabriel was great this year, but at 5â11", 3 years at UCF then 2 at OU, looks like they want to hand it to Jackson Arnold, who could be excellent as well. Sounds like a discussion between Gabriel and Venables - at least they seemed to be open and honest. He could follow his main recruiter and OC to Miss St. (he was with him at UCF and followed him to OU). Might be a big factor
Alabamaâs third-string QB enters the Lacrosse portal:
Thatâs interesting.
I understand he is a great lacrosse player, but was also a good football player, too. Surprised the Tide doesnât have a lacrosse team he could play for.
Not a priority sport in the SEC.
Moreso an ACC sport I think
Yup. The SEC is very limited as a conference in sports they offer. University of Kentucky Menâs Soccer plays in the Sun Belt Conference. Itâs a weird conference that really only focuses on a handful of sports.
Thatâs actually kind of interesting. They are âkingâ in football, basketball ebbs and flows, baseball is usually noticable, but didnât really think about the other sports and assumed for some reason the Olympic sports were just not as good (but maybe not even that supported!). Maybe those are more popular if different climates than the south where it is a little more temperate.
Gymnastics and Track the SEC always have a Contender. Baseball they won 5 of the last 6 World Series. Adding Oklahoma will def make it a bigger Softball conference. Same with Volleyball with adding Texas. Oddly, Vanderbilt won a title not only in Baseball in recent years but also Bowling. Which I was confused that it was an NCAA sport.
The SEC Network has two of the best shows. One is just former Auburn OL Cole Cubelic and former Alabama and New Orleans Saints DB Roman Harper breaking down film in a more Xâs and Oâs style and they explain schemes etc. Big Football Nerd energy and less commentator crap:
Then the second show is about culture, food, and even the last show was about recovery. Just story telling at itâs finest:
A direct quote from Libertyâs coach
âWe know how good they are,â Chadwell said this week. "Disappointed Bo Nix is going to play, I was hoping he was going to hold out and wasnât going to play any against us. I have a relationship with Boâs father going back from a FCA football camp, we actually coached at the same place together. Bo is a tremendous player, we are looking forward to going against what could be a Heisman winner.â
Unsure if he said that jokingly or seriously, but either way itâs an eye-roller of a comment.
I hope Oregon scores a million on those Knuckle draggers.
What a stupid thing to say. Many non-Power-5 teams have done well in BCS/NY6 bowls: Utah (twice), Boise St. and TCU (multiple times), UCF (twice, right?). But I think this game has the makings of a GeorgiaâHawaii 2008 Sugar Bowl.
I get the feeling too. That Hawaiâi team didnât help the G5 cause, this Liberty may not either.
Turks theory on the inclusion of non P5 teams in the BCS era:
Utah qualifies- BCS folks: âwell shoot, letâs have them play Pitt and see what happensâ. Utah blows out Pitt âWell, that didnât workâ
Boise qualifies - BCS folks: âwell, we donât want a repeat of that last fiasco, letâs let them play Oklahoma, so theyâll get blown outâ. Boise upsets Oklahoma in a thriller . âwell shoot, that didnât workâ
Hawaii qualifies - BCS folks: âok, weâre done screwing around, weâre gonna have them play Georgiaâ . Georgia destroys Hawaii . âthat worked, weâll use that againâ
Utah qualifies again - BCS folks: âok, we know what to do, weâll have them play Alabama. That scenario worked beforeâ Utah seal clubs Alabama . âwell dang, how did that happen?â
Boise and TCU both qualify - BCS folks: âweâll have them play each other, weâre done with this crapâ
Georgia -14 vs FSU is weird since so many think they are the 4th best team.
Before yâall jump on me I am being sarcastic. I have a soft spot for FSU having their spot stolen but I am cackling at the Florida politicians being outraged.
If it werenât for FSU having a ton of players unavailable due to injuries, that line might be quite a trap game.
That said, FSU might be walking into the beat down of the century as Georgia will be looking to take out getting bumped from the CFP on them.
Ridiculous Ron has been so busy throwing Faux Outrage at the entire world, I donât believe he knows what things require real outrage anymore.
So FSU got snubbed. Big whoop! Utah and A-Burn got snubbed in 2008 too. In fact, the list of the snubbed is longer than De Nile. It is why next season we begin the 12 team playoffâŚAnd there will STILL BE teams getting snubbed.
Welcome to the real world Ron! Now go do something real, like letting educators educate, fixing all your stateâs really broken public infrastructure and letting people live their lives. Oh, and quit suing Mickey Mouse. If you keep that up, that Mouse might just Black Swan your state and leave you holding several hundred billion dollars worth of proprietary land use your state will have to clean up while your sales tax revenues land in the Sir Thomas Crapper!
Ok I ranted. My bad.
