Gorgeous field
The Utes win 16-14! The company was great!
Another great facility in the University portfolio. We need a few lockdown pitchers so we donât have to have an offensive output tantamount to batting practice to get a win.
The company in the Bob Ueker section was awesome. The sunburn is also glorious.
Wish I could have been there. I was having the pond cleaned out.
Getting ready for Carl Spackler ?
Getting ready for Carl Spackler
Great afternoon at the new ballpark, a fine late game comeback for a win, and someone mentioned the ultimate tailgating vehicle so I thought Iâd post thisâŚ
Itâs a bit out of my price range, but it does seat 17, so perhaps some of you more flush Utefans could cover some portion of my share ![]()
Besides the price, the other big problem is that cargo area wonât hold enough booze for the any combination of 17 tailgaters I know personally from this crowd.
It would be spectacular to drive into the tailgate lot on game day in this old Crimson Gem though, wouldnât it?
Too bad we donât have that for the beginning of May for the ballgames @ BYU.
BTWâŚhappily sunburned!
Ditto!
Utes leading Kansas 12-9 going to the bottom of the ninth, first two hitters, solo homers, change pitchers, next hitter, pops out, next hitter, solo home run, change pitchers, next hitter solo homerun, Utes lose 13-12. I couldnât believe it.
That score and that comeback are pretty typical in college baseball. The pitching is typically way behind the hitting skills, so shootouts are very frequent. Unless youâre LSU or have multiple arms on their way to the MLB, itâs just the wild west.
From a scoring perspective itâs like watching slow-pitch rec softball, but theyâre throwing 90-95 and have decent defensive and hitting skills.
Interesting level of baseball to watch, but hey, if you end up with more wins than losses, Bingo!
I just discovered I have ESPN+âŚIâll be watching some Utah Baseball this weekend!!!
Putting up my yard art doo-dads and baseball. Only thing better is if my Dad was still around to backseat drive me while sipping iced tea.
Utes up 7-1 bottom of the 5th. Double Arizona State ejection!!! Coach and player. Drama on the Diamond!!!
Now the Ute pitcher has been bounced.
Utes win in Tempe, 10-4. ![]()
Utes beat the Sun Devils 10-4
This game was noteworthy enough to post more:
Emotions Flare as ASU Drops Series Opener to Utah - Phoenix Today
Utahâs pitcher Colter McAnelly, ASUâs catcher Brody Briggs and the Devilsâ coach Willie Bloomquist got the boot in the 6th. Utes held on & then added insurance runs, got the W.
âHe popped the ball up, and I saw the pitcher going down the line, almost imitating or mimicking him and instigating again. Am I frowning upon that? Am I saying that kid is wrong? No, Iâm not. But if there are warnings in place, which there were, that kid should be tossed.â
â Willie Bloomquist, Arizona State Head Coach
When I read that name, it brought back a lot of memories for me. An ASU grad. Lifetime .269 hitter in 14 years in the bigs. Decent career with a career 1.8 WAR and a 78 OPS which means he was just a replacement level player. Probably made enough that he doesnât need to be ASUâs manager other than for the need to do something after retiring.
Last nightâs game was a barn burner, with the Utes losing 13-12. Hopefully today theyâll have some umph to win the away stand. ASU has a player named Hairston who can hit anything. He needs to be contained. Holy Toledo.
See you today @ 1400 on ESPN+
Go Utes!!!
