Yes, based on everything I’ve read. Utah was one of the last four teams to get in. Hey, we are in. If we can just get past UNI…that would be enough.

Got reverse swept…a bit of let-down. Didn’t watch it and probably won’t.

I did. Utah was firing on all cylinders in games 1 and 2. Sets were near perfect, hitters were having their way and the block was a wall. UNI eked out a back and forth 3rd set and then controlled the final two sets. As the game progressed, the sets that were perfect in games 1 and 2 were just off enough to cause the hitters to miss just enough. The block that was a wall was slow in getting to the right spot. I don’t know if fatigue was a factor, but they went from being on top of their game to a step too slow.

Coach has decided to call it a career and Alyssa D’Errico has been named her replacement.

Yep…it’s the end of an era or two eras. Still remember working for her in 1994 as a student-assistant coach.

I just read D’Errico’s resume on the website and it looks like she was not only a great player but she has steadily been building her resume with coaching stops at good schools and with USA Volleyball.
Sounds like it is a great hire as it seems she would have left soon for a head job. Unless… When she came over from Dayton three years ago as Associate Head Coach, was she hired specifically to replace Launiere when she decided to retire?

According to my source, hiring Alyssa to be Beth’s successor was indeed the preliminary plan. And, in the subsequent couple of years, she proved to be the right choice.
I’m old enough to remember her playing days at PSU.

Our friends to the south have had a couple of their best players announce they are going portaling this week in Suli Davis and Alex Bower.
Y’all got any of that new cash infusion for a volleyball upgrade? (I know, there probably isnt much left over for sports like volleyball, but i kinda hope there is enough to upgrade).

Wow…those are a couple of star players. Davis is the Freshman of the Year and 1st team all conference in B12.

Well, Heather Olmstead, the TDS’s coach is out. I think the top candidates are the USU’s head coach or Trent Sorensen of SMU. I know Trent and actually played with him in sand and indoor – good guy. Hopeful he’s not interested in TDS.
USU’s team is being decimated by the portal – 7, I think, are in the portal.
