We have played the kenpom 168 (sjsu), 269 (wsu), and 344 (hc) so far. I think the most concerning thing to me is, we haven’t seen Jerry Huang yet. Ie, we haven’t blown anyone out yet to the point that we can get the walk on in.
But, trying to keep the big picture in mind. Im confident Alex will have us improving throughout the season and over the next few years.
Improved significantly from prior games at taking care of the ball and rebounding. Hope they can continue to do those things and improve their defense. Only played 8 guys.
Holy Cross is not good, but one guy led the NCAA in 3 pt percentage last year at 50%. Went 5 for 9 against us. That is wild to me.
Thought they had a big enough lead last night for a few minutes of game time for the end of the bench but Alex seems to be fine-tuning his regular rotation, only 8 players saw action last night.
I wonder how much of that 8 man rotation is fine tuning, and how much is out of pure necessity due to injuiry, I suspect a bit of both. Ill be interesting to see how things go when Okonkwo is eligible (Saturday) and Traore and Moore get healthy.
The entire able bodied roster except Alvin Jackson III have played. Choppa a brief forgettable few minutes & Jahki extended minutes against Weber. Both are now glued to the bench—rightly so.
He has no one else to play except the remaining 8.
And when they get in foul trouble it gets really small & ugly.
The infiltration of unfettered gambling is going to ruin the credibility of every sport if the country doesn’t get a handle on it. Of course that would required Constitutional action, so I’m not holding my breath.
Here is something I just dont understand…why is the athletic department not doing more to get people in the JMHC? During the 2024-2025 academic year, they got rid of free youth tickets at the non rev sports. At the beginning of 2025, free tickets to university employees went away (non rev sports).
I attended the season opener for womens basketball (11 am on a monday morning). There was a security guard who parked himself on the 6th row and wouldnt allow anyone into the first 5 rows. Not the floor level seats, mind you. The first five rows. He did this through the whole game. At some point, its like, come on guy, no one is coming to sit here, just let people be.
Just seems to me like we should be doing everything we can to get people in the arena. Yeah, up front its a big expense, but id be trying to pack that place and I just get the impression that they dont care if people come or not. I cancelled my womens basketball season tickets and no one bothered to ask me why or try to get me to re up, and I have had them for a number of years now. Its very strange to me.
