I don’t recall Utah ever being down by 26 at halftime at home.
Hey, but “only” down 16 now.

Chance to make it 9 with 7 to go if McHenry hits the 1&1s.
Last night was pathetic attendance, pathetic senior night, and even more pathetic performance. Somebody talk me off the ledge re Alex: I am suddenly concerned about him as head coach. He hasnt shown any emotion all year long that I have witnessed. Havent seen him get pissed off at a ref or a bone headed turnover. He stood like a card board cut out during the senior night ceremony. Didn’t say a word about either player. Cant imagine Majerus ever doing anything like that. Makes me wonder if he connects with his players. I know he was close to Gobert. Somebody tell me I am concerned about nothing, that he has just written off the year and trying to get through it.
Last night was both a culmination of just how bad this team can be…
…with a short glimpse of how the team can be better, in the second half.
“Meh, like Krystko’s first year, and almost over”… until I saw BYU getting demolished at Cinci, an opponent we kicked ourselves for not having beat, a winnable game.
It looks like we might match up against BYU in the first round of the B12 tourney.
In a Bad News Bears kind of way, if we could knock them off in the tournament, that would be… exquisite.
We’re in low emotional investment “see ya next year” mode, they still have throngs of fans who bought into the Kevin Young hype and thought investing all that NIL money would get them to the Final Four.
They’re already really angry. If we can somehow knock them off in the tourney, they would have torches and pitchforks outside the Kevin Young household.
If we don’t happen to win that game? Meh… go recruit like crazy and we’ll see how things look in the fall.
Back in the Majerus era, Rick would make a short but wonderful speech about each departing senior saying very positive things about each one. And those of us there last night indeed watched as Alex said nothing. Guess it does make a difference that back in the 90s almost all the seniors were in their fourth year at Utah where as last night the pair honored just played one year here.
After the first half my opinion was that nobody on that team deserves the opportunity to be in those jerseys again next year. No energy. No competitive drive. No pride at all.
TB has a good offensive game but dribbles too much and grades a D- in defense.
Terrence likes to go for the running steal followed by a race to the other end for a dunk. But when he misses, he leaves the team short a defender while he scrambles to get back.
Alex: “This Senior, who I regularly forget his name, has, umm, been here this year. I didn’t really recruit him, don’t know where he went to HS, he’s on his 3rd college, and my assistants just got him for me to have a warm body so I saw him at the first practice and thought, he has a basketball in his hands. Good start. Thanks, bud!” picture taken
Yeah, the fact that so few graduating players these days are four-year players at the same school makes senior night a little less special. Big Rick would get emotional when guys like “Rydawsh,” McKay McGrath, Larry Cain, and Drew Hansen would step onto the court at the Huntsman for the final time. Now, you’ve got guys who spend a whole three months here.
I was at the Utah–New Mexico game in 1999 for senior night when Andre Miller played for the final time. It was the loudest basketball game I had ever been too. And Utah destroyed a very good UNM team by 30 (and led by 41 late in the game before playing the scrubs).
I saw it posted that in BIG10, SEC, ACC, Big12, BigEast only 22 players who are completing 4th or 5th year only played at one school.
Remember, it could always be worse. ![]()
That is astonishing, but then again it is not astonishing at all.
That could certainly be used as a recruiting advantage.
Well, somehow Florida and Arizona have to be involved in this. That said, had it happened in either of those states it would simply be added to the list of reasons why people from Arizona and Florida never get to go to The Good Place. ![]()
That noted, the Central Valley will always have its “Neck” status and the Fresno State players chasing people and carrying swords to do “the slice and dice” (allegedly). ![]()
How else are you going to compete against schools with big NIL budgets?
This is hilarious in the worst kind of way. WTF are they doing there in Bakersfield?
Have you been to Bakersfield ? Their minor league hockey team used to be called The Fog.
I have not been through Bakersfield in decades, and did not have my drivers license when I did. I do seem to recall lots of desert, but I may be wrong about that.
Haven’t been through there in a quite a while either. But I have been through Baker, California, fairly recently. My goodness, what a hellhole. (My apologies if I offended anyone here who might be from the town.) I stopped in Baker for gas on my way to LA a few years ago, and it was like 97 degrees … in April!
Baker has that rather tall thermometer and some really weird store that specializes in alien jerky. Indeed is hotter than Vegas. A few years ago we stopped for gas in May on the way back from a Disneyland trip and before noon it was already in triple digits according to that thermometer.
