Yeah, watching that game last night and the other 2-3 games ive seen of theirs this year, I just see virtually the same guy as when he was a freshman at utah, outside of just basic natural development. He has always been a phenomenal rebounder. Hes still laughably out of position on defense because hes all about the highlight reel play over the right basketball play. His free throw shooting stinks as always. No moves in the post.
Keita great at dunking and swatting a few opponent shots into the stands each game. But is a rather one-dimensional player who would benefit from developing other skills..
Burgess has been his coach while at Utah and byu. Either he’s capped his abilities and won’t get better or Burgess isn’t a great big-man coach.
Maybe there’s a reason why Burgess is still an assistant.
It probably doesn’t matter much, and I shouldn’t care, but how on earth is TDS still ranked after four consecutive losses and five losses in six games? I get that four of those five losses have been to top-20 teams, but still.
How does Duke lose and not drop in the AP?
The Dukes have cornered the market.
Duke is Duke. They are on TV more than “Leave it to Beaver” reruns. ![]()
I watch that film every holiday season, and not just to see JLC. It’s a great movie.
I love my Utes and will always root for the team—even in really down years like this one. But tonight’s game is going to be ugly. Houston is so good. Not 1995–96 Kentucky good, but really good.
We’re within 9 at the half!!!
I told the boss “Call in the bomb threat!”
She didn’t get the reference, so I had to consult the Google machine: January 24, 1974.
EDIT: I guess we actually have to be ahead for that scenario to be applicable. Sigh… at least I’m in synch with how the season has gone.
One guy for Houston has 19 at the half, including six 3s. Yikes.
Predictably, the deficit soars to 19 five minutes into the half. Allowing one guy to hit eight 3s in 25 minutes is inexcusable.
He’s hitting from 27 ft consistently, though. We’re too slow to stretch that far and be able to guard against a blow by.
The real difference is that Houston has taken Brown and McHenry out of the game. Dawes is doing ok, but we don’t have anyone else who can keep us close.
Houston’s man-to-man defense reminds me of Majerus’ teams, only Houston is longer and more athletic.
We beat the spread!!!
Laying on the couch in my Alex Jensen t-shirt and scrubs, this is what I was pulling for most of the 2nd half, and we did it!!!
1-10 is not good. At all. But Utah hasn’t been utterly embarrassed in any loss.
Being old enough to remember seeing a Craig Hodges coached Chicago State team simply quit trying in a game in the JMHC probably 35 years ago, it’s good that we don’t see that. The Utes keep working, even when they’re outmatched like they most certainly were last night.
I remember that game. It was in December 1994. Utes won 105-38. On the post-game radio show, Majerus actually apologized to Utah fans for having to witness that, and he called out Chicago St. for quitting.
