12th in final AP poll

Can’t wait for next year.

Great season, especially after starting 1-2. Went 9-2 the rest of the way. We were obviously not a top 25 team the 1st quarter and felt like we were high single-digit ranked team the rest, so #12 is a good landing spot. Means respect for the Rose Bowl even though it was a L. Oregon at #22.

Top 5 season all time, but probably my favorite with the players and the adversity they faced. But that could be recency bias. Obviously any year with a NY6 is going to be awesome. But I followed this team more closely than even 2004 when I checked the BCS rankings the minute they came out (even if I was in the middle of incompressible fluid dynamics class). Obviously 2008 and 2019 were great fun. Those are my top 4, but I didn’t start following the Utes until 1998 and have been lucky to see the rise from Ron’s last 5 to now.(24 seasons, 198-96, 14-4 in bowls).

In case anyone thinks preseason ranking are that accurate  . 14 teams in the final top 25 were NR at the beginning of the season. 4 that ended in the top 10.

Man, we could have had a Alabama/Ohio St. and Clemson/OU CFP. again. yawn.

  • OU and Iowa State should have led the BigXII but it was Baylor/Oklahoma St
  • Clemson/UNC should have been the class of ACC but it was Pitt/Wake
  • Oregon/UW and Utah/ASU should have battled it out for the North/South. Well, half true.
  • Ohio St. vs. Wisc in the B1G championship. nope and nope

I guess those with undelivered expectations mostly paid for it: UF, Miami, USC, LSU, UW all make a coaching change.
