With the Utes having a lot of returning experience and byu have the least amount of experience returning next season, I just don’t see this game being close unless byu has a bunch of talent hidden away, that never saw the field last year.

Kyle hates BYU, Urban hates BYU, Wayne Howard hates BYU more than both of them combined. But only Larry K has pulled money out of his own pocket to cancel BYU.

Haven’t seen Wayne Howard’s name here in some time. He never did coach again after leaving Utah in the early 80s. Anyone know where he is nowadays?

I guess cheap is relative.

They’re certainly not as cheap as they once were. While Utah and BYU seem to match payments basically making the game a wash, I don’t know that that works with USU.

They’re certainly not going to pay the U the same amount to come to Logan as they expect to be paid to come to Salt Lake. And that’s the other difficult part. We have 3 non conference games each year. The only way I could see playing USU would be to not play BYU that year.

If USU was willing to only play at Utah I think it would be easy to put them on the schedule, but wanting a home and home makes that very very hard. (Utah has every other in state school scheduled, but other than BYU they’re all at RES)

If you have a home and home with a team, the remuneration is usually equal. It’s the one and dones that get paid for.

But USU likely isn’t going to agree to equal pay on a home and home.

Their stadium is small. Their TV deal isn’t a cash cow. They’re known for taking massive payday games.

BYU can afford to make it a wash, USU probably can’t.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, USU is a ‘tweener’. They’re not a big name, but they’re not Weber either.

Wayne is still alive but hasn’t coached a game in 40 years. That’s how bad his last game against BYU pissed him off. I wish we’d sign him up to be an assistant this year.

Chuck Stobart and Tom Lovat are also still alive.

when we agree to a home and home with any team even the little guys the remuneration is equal, the only time that is different is if a team agrees to a 1 and done. If the game is at our place we pay.
